KATY researcher Catia Pesquita appears in radio interview

Although artificial intelligence has already proven its utility in various areas, such as aiding in diagnosis, analyzing clinical images, predicting readmission probabilities, or recommending appropriate medications for patients, the truth is that these algorithms will never be integrated into clinical practice until they can be explained.

Associate Professor Catia Pesquita from KATY partner FC.ID gave an radio interview at the online podcast format "90 segundos de ciencia", explaining how the KATY project is addressing this challenge by developing an explainable artificial intelligence system with which clinicians can interact to get appropriate drug recommendations for their renal cancer patients. To ensure reliability and trustworthiness, the system will draw upon a vast repository of structured scientific knowledge and will not only recommend the most suitable medication but also provide a science-based explanation that will foster trust and integration into clinical practice.
